Bachelor of Science

Midwifery is one of the most ancient disciplines of medicine.
This programme will provide you with knowledge in the area of medical sciences, most notably: prenatal medicine, neonatology, gynaecology and nursing. They will allow you to accustom yourself with types of services provided to a woman and her family, pregnant woman, woman in labour and a new born baby.

 

The need for a well-qualified medical staff in Poland is always on the rise. Student graduating from a Midwifery programme should not be concerned with employment as new, attractive workplaces both the local and international areas are being continuously created.

After graduating, the midwife is qualified to conduct health education, involving preparation for family life, pregnancy planning, monitoring of its proper course and receiving childbirth.

 

The alumni, after receiving a right to perform the profession, can find employment in:

  • maternity, gynaecological, neonatology and pathology of pregnancy wards
  • specialist clinic
  • Lamaze class
  • Laboratories
  • After receiving pedagogical specialisation: as a teacher/lecturer in educational facilities

General Entry Requirements:

 

International students applying to our University have to submit documents confirming their graduation from a secondary school or a university. Certificates and diplomas issued abroad must be officially legalized and recognized in Poland.

 

Language Requirements:

 

International students must submit a document confirming their knowledge of English, or are required to a attend an English language course. This requirement does not apply to students for whom English is a native language or was a language of instruction at school.

International students should demonstrate that they meet one of the following minimum language requirements:

TOEFL test with a score of at least 550,

IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0 for Bachelor and Master studies,

FCE test with grade B.


The modules available at the Midwifery programme will allow you to gain professional knowledge and skills, which are necessary to follow this professional path. It will also allow you to continue the education on a second degree programme of the same profile.

To be fully able to realise this profession, you will need basic medical knowledge. The modules realised within the Midwifery programme are:

  • obstetric techniques and conducting childbirth

  • diagnostics in midwifery and gynaecology
  • obstetrics and obstetric care
  • gynaecology and gynaecological care

Additionally, the students undertake a module for polish language, in order to be able to function properly in the country of their education, during its course and afterwards.

The graduate of the Midwifery Programme receives a Midwifery bachelor title and the diploma which gives them the qualifications in all countries in European Union.

Midwife is a profession of a very strong public confidence, which requires passion and dedication on top of the knowledge, skill and education. Midwives should be responsible, thorough, reliable, communicative and decisive, and in terms of their attitude towards another person: patient, respectful, kind, caring, selfless. Additionally, they need to be always ready to improve their professional skill.
